Discover the history of Türkiye and learn about the history of the Ottomans as we visit the various capital cities of the Ottoman Empire – Iznik (Nicea), Sogut, Bursa and Istanbul (Constantinople).

See some of the world’s most amazing and unique architecture, sites and markets and learn about the history of the Ottoman Empire as you absorb and explore the famous attractions.

Day 1: Sunday 7th July, Istanbul
Welcome to Istanbul… a city straddling 2 continents that has been a melting pot for different people and cultures throughout history. Introductions including program, itinerary and intro to early history. Free and easy. Overnight in Istanbul.
Day 2: Monday 8th July, Istanbul-Iznik 
Visit to Abu Ayub Ansari mosque & Sahaabi graves. Visit Arab mosque - First mosque during the early siege of Constantinople.
Depart for Iznik. Check into hotel. History presentation. Site visits. Overnight in Iznik.
Day 3: Tuesday 9th July, Iznik-Sogut-Bursa
Depart Iznik for Sogut. Visit Tomb of Ertugrul and others – Mosque built by Ertugrul. Depart Sogut for Bursa. Visit Panaroma museum of Bursa. Overnight in Bursa (The first Ottoman capital).
Day 4: Wednesday 10th July, Bursa 
History presentation. Visit Tomb of Usman and Orhan Ghazi, the great mosque and silk Bazaar, Green mosque and tomb of Mehmet Chelebi. Overnight Bursa.
Day 5: Thursday 11th July, Bursa-Istanbul
Depart Bursa for Istanbul. Visit Camlica Mosque. Check into Istanbul hotel. History presentation. Overnight in Istanbul.
Day 6: Friday 12th July, Istanbul 
Full day visit to Istanbul main sites (Topkapi palace, Hagia Sofia, Blue mosque, Grand Bazaar). Overnight in Istanbul.
Day 7: Saturday 13th July, Istanbul
Departure from Istanbul.

Sheikh Bilal Ismail smiling

Born in South Africa, he memorized the Quran at a young age then went on to complete a BA in Islamic Law from the University of Madinah. He joined the AlKauthar Institute team in 2008 and has taught over 100 AlKauthar weekend seminars in over 20 cities around the world.

Over the past few years, he has spent extensive time travelling and researching the first 1,000 years of Islamic history from numerous sources.

He accompanies our Knowledge Hive groups as the main tutor for lessons on Islamic history.

    How much is it per person?

    Please see the pricing details above.

    Is flight cost included in the price?

    No, the flight costs are not included in the price. This tour is a land package – international flights to and from Istanbul and Istanbul airport/hotel transfers are NOT included.

    Where will we meet the AlKauthar team in Istanbul?

    The arrival and departure point for the Knowledge Hive will be the hotel in Istanbul. Once you arrive at the hotel on Sunday, 7th July, you will join the group to settle in, and the tour begins on Monday, 8th July and concludes with check out on the morning of Saturday, 13th July 2024.

    Is it a children-friendly event?

    Yes, everyone is welcome at the event. Children under 2 years of age can attend the event for free if they do not need extra beds and seats on the bus. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

    Can I get a refund if I cancel my booking?

    Students are entitled to a full refund of the tour fees before May 30th, 2024. We are unable to provide any refund after June 1st, 2024, as all payments in Istanbul will be finalized on June 1st, 2024.
